PERIPHERIE – Institute for practical gender research
PERIPHERIE, the institute for practical gender research, is an independent and non-profit organization, which was founded in the year 2000 as an institute for research and adult education.
Our expertise relies on the gender perspective, which we apply in a wide research field in the areas of adult education, employment, gender budgeting, gender mainstreaming as well as migration and health.
Our research takes an interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach and we use a wide diversity of methods. The results of our studies are implemented in our further training, counseling, and coaching services.
We aim for an interconnection of scientific research and social practice.
PERIPHERIE further aims to initiate transformation processes that will eventually lead to equality of opportunity and equality of women and men in all the areas of our society.
By developing, implementing and monitoring innovative projects in the area of adult education and research we highlight structural inequalities and contribute to change.
PERIPHERIE has been certified with the LQW-certificate, which stands for high quality in adult education.
