Our fourth international meeting took place from 26 to 30 August 2014 in the Hanseatic City of Rostock in the North-East of Germany. This time, 24 participants from Austria, Germany, Spain and Turkey met to present and to discuss proverbs and sayings from their countries. The topics were Education and Learning and Love. We had organised mixed work groups to compare and to speak about the social-historical context, about the gender perspective, what it means today to us and to define the final version for the E-Dictionary.
As there are many platforms with proverbs in the internet, one of our specific contributions and outcomes will be the presentation of those aspects and of suggestions that interested users can take up as a starting point for discussion. We presented the work group results in the plenum. The German host also let us know about the regional language “Low German” and presented a nice love song that they sang for the participants. They also were guides to show partners around the Hanseatic City of Rostock and the Seaside Resort of Warnemünde, to let the partners know about the history and the changes brought by German reunification. We got better to know each other and learned about our cultures during common meals, a BBQ organised by the Citizen Community Centre (SBZ Südstadt) and singing and dancing together.
